Building NIC Together
BUILD 2026 is NIC’s commitment to ensure students are at the centre of everything we do. It is our promise to support the unique people and communities of Vancouver Island and the Central Coast through individualized learning.
Since launching the BUILD 2026 strategic plan in June 2021, COVID-19 and the rapid expansion of digital learning continue to shift, lifting barriers for some students while raising new obstacles for many others. Economies, communities and students have not been affected equally.
BUILD 2026 is our commitment to keep listening and responding with educational programs, services and delivery methods that meet students and communities where they are now and where they want to be in the future.

How has the pandemic changed your learning needs?
Cautiously excited for fresh leadership. Looking forward to see how NIC's services and offerings will improve to enhance student success from application, retention, and completion.
I believe that NIC has a golden opportunity to embrace online learning solutions like never before. We should focus on expanding digital solutions across all regions and provide additional training to all employees interested in this focus.
With so much uncertainty in the world today, it feels wonderfully reassuring to have Dr. Lisa Domae as our new President who recognizes the importance of work-integrated learning and has a student-centred, community-connected vision for NIC.
I need access to childcare in order to continue my studies and that can be a real challenge. I hope that Port Alberni will eventually have on site childcare.
